COVID 19 UPDATE 03/30/2020

Hello church! Welcome to week three of the shut down! If you’re like me,
you’re fighting some pretty negative emotions right now. Certainly, there’s a
level of fear and uncertainty; maybe isolation; maybe boredom – I know my
girls are bored out of their minds; maybe disappointment for missed
opportunities; or perhaps even anger – the worst part of that is you don’t even
know who to be angry at!
All those emotions are completely natural right now… but that doesn’t make
them helpful or productive.
I would encourage you to turn off the news for the majority of your day.
Maybe 30 minutes in the morning and 30 more in the evening to keep up with
changing events. But I strongly believe any more than that is
counterproductive and even damaging.
Remember: Whatever you feed gets stronger – if you feed your fear with
doom and gloom from the news all day, it’s only going to ramp up your level
of fear…
I love what the Apostle Paul writes in:
Philippians 4:8 (NIV)
8  Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is
excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
I believe with every fiber of my being that if we feed our spirits with the Word
of God it will combat and defeat the negatives emotions trying to take us
That’s why I want to give you a couple more of these scriptures to think about
before I finish this video with some announcements –
Psalm 34:4 (NIV)
4  I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

We need to be praying right now more than we’ve ever prayed before! I
promise, if you will seek the Lord, He WILL answer you and He WILL
deliver you from fear!
Psalm 55:22 (NIV)
22  Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the
righteous be shaken.
Church, we have been made righteous through Jesus Christ – we are sons and
daughters of the King! This is an invitation to cry out to our Father and
verbalize all of our fears and concerns – and it comes with a promise – and the
promise is that He will sustain us!
Let me give you one more: Paul assures us in…
Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
38  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither
the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39  neither height nor depth, nor anything
else in all creation, (coronavirus; bad economy) will be able to separate us from
the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
If you know Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life, there is nothing that
can separate you from His love!
I strongly encourage you to dive into God’s Word this week and pull out and
proclaim His promises over you and your loved ones.
Church, I miss you so much and I can’t wait to see your smiling faces in
person again. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen this week. We will
once again be online for our services this Sunday at 11:15. It’s an unusual way
to do church, but what an awesome ministry of the Holy Spirit we experienced
this past weekend – everything was so powerful and anointed!
We have something very special planned for this weekend: This Sunday is
Palm Sunday, and I want us to share in communion together. Obviously, you
will need to supply your own communion elements – so just grab some bread
and grape juice from the store and that will work perfectly. We will send out a
reminder on Saturday to have it ready for the service on Sunday.

I love you church – it’s breaking my heart not seeing you, but I know God is
using this crisis for our good. I believe the evidence of His work during this
time will continue to play out for months – and maybe even years to come!

On Sunday afternoon I really enjoyed reading all of your comments on the live feed and personal messages you sent to me in various ways. I’m VERY thankful you tuned in and participated with your families.

Okay, I want to take the next couple of minutes to update you on everything happening at the church – there’s a laundry list of items, so it might not be a bad idea to grab your phone or a note pad…

I don’t think it will come as any surprise that we will once again be online only this Sunday – we will go live with worship at 11:15am. The building will also be closed for all mid-week activities and classes on Wed night.

I’m excited to let you know that Brandon and his team have been working hard to upgrade our livestream capabilities – new software, new equipment, new everything! – and so this Sunday’s sound and overall quality should be even better. We also hope to include the song lyrics and my sermon points on your screen in the lower third to help you connect even more.

This week instead of going to FB, we want you to go to our website at and click the link for the service. You’ll still be able to watch through FB, but we’ll be offering a much more stable platform through our website.

Second, I want to encourage all you parents to connect with everything that Pastor Tyler and Pastor Brian are doing for our students and children online. They have some really great content that they’re putting out – our middle and high school students can go to @nlsga on Instagram or search New Life Students on FB to find this information – and parents of younger children can go to the New Life Kids FB page by searching New Life Kids Canton and click “join.” Please take advantage of this content and activities for your kids!

Third, Pastor Travis has arranged for some of our Wednesday night teachers to offer their classes online. If you’ve been coming on Wed or if you just want to jump online and check out one of these classes, the information you need can be found on the New Life FB page – look for the New Life midweek group and pick the class that you want to join. The content will begin at 7pm Wed.

Fourth, I want to commend many of you for branching out and giving your offering online for the first time this week. Many of you also utilized our PO box and mailed in your tithes and offerings with a check. Brandon will put that slide up once again in case you don’t have the information. I just want to encourage you to remain faithful in your giving. As God blesses us, the Word instructs us that we are to return to Him our first fruits.

And finally, if this crisis has caused a financial strain – maybe you’ve been laid off or your hours have been drastically cut – and you need help or food or assistance, please reach out to us. I can’t promise to pay all your bills, but we will do what we can to help during this crisis.

If you’re over 60 or have underlying health issues and need someone to do your grocery shopping, PLEASE reach out to us – we have volunteers waiting to shop for you and deliver the groceries right to your door. Now, we can pray for signs and wonders, but unless Jesus gets involved, I can’t promise you toilet paper – but just about anything else we’ll take care of it.
