Barbuda Mission Trip Interest Meeting

March 1, 2020 12:45 pm

Why are we going?

Category 5 Hurricane Irma unexpectedly struck the island of Barbuda in 2017. Almost all homes and buildings were either destroyed or severely damaged. Although much rebuilding has taken place, many Barbudans still live in tents due to construction costs. We have been able to build a relationship with pastor Francois Clifton and several church members from the Abundant Life Church in Barbuda. They have 2 key needs: roofs for church members and a VBS / Youth camp for Barbudan children and youth.

What will we do on the trip?

We expect that most of our team will work with pastor Tyler to conduct a week long VBS and youth camp. We also have a need for 1 or 2 highly skilled construction people to help with rebuilding roofs.

Can middle and high school age kids go?

Absolutely, in fact we expect middle and high school youth to play an important part in our VBS and Youth camps.

When is the trip? Saturday July 11 through Saturday July 18

How much will the trip cost?

$1100 – $1200

Will there be any fundraising opportunities?

Yes, we will talk about them at our meeting.

**REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE LUNCH MEETING. The meeting is Sunday, March 1st in the Community Room directly after 2nd service. Lunch is  provided and we’ll have childcare for kids 5th grade and under. **
